About

Chicago Style Wellness

I'm Kelly, and I'm Chicago proud. If you know anything about Southsiders, you know
we've got a good thing going here — and were too smart to mess with it.

So here's what I'm not gonna mess with: Pizza. Beer. Get togethers with family and friends. Tailgating at Bears games. Nuff said!

After 13 years of serving Southside Chicago and its suburbs as a registered dietitian,
sports nutritionist and community health leader, I can promise you this:

We can DO wellness and keep our community strong without throwing out the fun
and foods that make life worth living.

Getting healthy is all about making simple, smart changes to your eating and routine
— and making them such fun no-brainers you're going to keep them up and outlive
even me.

Let us show you how easy it can be!

“Ground rules” for getting healthy

Enjoy Food!

Pasta, pizza and tacos are some of life's true pleasures — not the enemy. Joyless health regimens have you cut out everything you love until you just can't take it and fall off the wagon. We want to show you how variety, moderation and the occasional indulgence can support a long, healthy life...that's actually worth living!

Enjoy Life!

At Devine Nutrition, we keep our eye on the prize. You're not here to earn a fitness and nutrition gold star. You're building the health and vitality that let you live the life you want on your own terms. Your health is an investment in your relationships, parenting, community, adventure, and whatever you care about most. Make it great!

Enjoy Together!

Health is for everyone: Real people of all ages and fitness levels. We focus on togetherness — from one-on-ones to classes, camps, and group adventures — so you get the support, encouragement and laughs that keep you going. Get to know your friends and neighbors while keeping Southside strong.

"Taking that first step towards a healthier lifestyle can be challenging, but it is so worth it in the end! I look forward to helping you on your wellness journey!"

A tribute to my dad

If you're from around here, you may know Andy Devine. He was a proud graduate of Mendel High who went on to play on St. Xavier's first men's basketball team. As co-owner of Marathon Sportswear for over 30 years, he was a fixture at regional races and sporting events for decades. My dad was an inspirational coach, marathon runner, and mentor to many. He was a generous man with an unparalleled zest for life.

My dad got hooked on running when I was a baby and I grew up going to races and cheering him on. When he joined the sportswear business, running (and race shirts!) became our life. Our annual “family vacation” was to drive t-shirt orders to the Bix 7 race in Davenport, Iowa, go to the expo and run the race. He would even make our whole St. Damian basketball team run the Ridge Run! We entered every 5K we could find. And we loved it.

As a teen on the cross country team, I ended up seeing a Registered Dietitian when I became underweight. She helped me increase my healthy fats and calories and I went on to PR in all my race times my sophomore year and became MVP of the Providence Catholic varsity track team. That's when I decided to become an RD, so I could help others feel and perform their best. My Dad led me to running and running led me to nutrition. In countless ways, my Dad shaped my life and helped make me who I am.

My Dad: Runner. Supporter. Diehard basketball fan. Life of the party. King of jokes.

I'll miss you dad. This run's for you.

Raving Fan

When we came to Kelly's Devine Nutrition/St. Xavier Weight loss class we were getting no exercise, had no motivation, and had no energy, so sitting in front of the TV was all we did. We were eating unhealthy meals for reactionary reasons, snacking for comfort, and forgetting all about nutrition. Overall we were miserable. Fast forward about six months, after working with Kelly and making big changes in our eating and lifestyle, we've started walking a few miles a day, taking pilates classes and riding our bikes again. Our shopping cart is full of fruits and veggies and we stick to the perimeter of the store, butcher counter, dairy and garden stand. We still drink wine because a meal without it is uncivilized, but we trade quantity for quality and reward ourselves with a second glass if we reach 10,000 daily steps. As a couple, we're down 109 pounds and we have energy to spare. Thanks, Kelly!
